Floyd Earns Prestigious Customer Service Award

Floyd Medical Center’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit has been awarded the 2005 Compass Award for patient satisfaction improvement.

The Compass Award, presented by South Bend, Indiana-based Press Ganey Associates, recognizes the three organizations with the most improved customer satisfaction scores in their survey groups. Survey scores for Floyd’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit have increased 5.67 points over the past two years. This is the second time Floyd has earned a Compass Award and the fourth Press Ganey customer satisfaction award for the organization.

“Patient involvement, physical improvement and personal success are the cornerstones of rehabilitation services,” said Donna Knighten, director of Service Improvement at Floyd.

The Rehabilitation Services Unit was cited for its efforts to encourage patient involvement. For instance, a customer liaison is assigned to each patient to answer questions and deal with any concerns. Patients are being discharged are celebrated with a graduation ceremony, where they receive special recognition, a diploma, a t-shirt, and have a commemorative picture taken with the Rehabilitation Services staff.

The Compass Award will be presented at Press Ganey Associates, Inc., National Client Conference in November 2005 in Orlando, Florida.
